Get to the core of cider with First Friday series

The Jefferson County Historical Society will present “Cider with Alpenfire Cider” as the next installment in its First Friday Speaker Series.

A series that spotlights craftspeople throughout the county, First Fridays aim to celebrate the art of making and to honor mediums of all kinds.

Beginning at 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 4, join Nancy and Bear Bishop of Alpenfire Cider for an in-person evening of storytelling and cider crafting.

The Bishops first discovered their passion for cider while touring British Columbia as 19 year olds. The ciders they tasted sparked an interest. The couple got serious about cider making in the early 2000s, traveling to the cider regions of England, France and Spain to see how it was done. It was there that they saw the type of small-scale production that would later drive the craft at Alpenfire Cider.

Knowing that they are doing their part to create the kind of future they want for their family and planet, the Bishops choose to grow organically. Learn about their orchard practices and the production of their signature dry ciders while enjoying the fresh air and a cold glass.

All participants must be age 21 or over. The maximum number of guests for this event is limited. Masking and social distancing will be practiced.
